Obielumani Amudo is pursuing a B.A in Art, Film, and Visual Studies at Harvard University. Originally a Statistics concentrator, she is interested in capturing clashing perspectives in both art and life, in looking versus seeing.

A walking contradiction, Obielumani was born in Brunei, spent the formative years of her childhood bouncing between Australia and four other countries, has Nigerian parents, and speaks with an American accent. So, she is from everywhere and nowhere: is this freeing or lonely?

Ultimately, we all have the power to choose, to ground ourselves in a truth. Located uniquely across time and space, though your story may lap water with others’, only you can steer the boat propelling you across the endless lake that is our world.

Upon first look, someone’s story seems clear, categorized - understood through the labels we assign to understand.

Obielumani challenges you to look again. A humbling second sight, revealing we will always understand nothing, if we’re so certain we’ve seen everything.

Because maybe everything is.. everything just is.

Obielumani graduated valedictorian of her high school, the John Cooper school, in the Woodlands, Texas. She has competed in Division I Track and Field athletics at Harvard and has worked in various finance roles during college. She started her investing training in BLK Capital Management, a black student-run non-profit Hedge Fund, eventually becoming an Executive Board member. She also completed the Girls Who Invest training program before working as a Hedge Fund, Investment Banking, and Private Equity analyst at GCM Grosvenor, Perella Weinberg Partners, and Blackstone, respectively. A girls’ girl who always has something to say, she shares her thoughts and love of all things glam on social media, where she has ~100k followers across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. Fascinated with languages, she spends her free time watching Spanish soap operas and French films and hopes to spend time abroad cementing fluency. A lover of stories, she is currently writing her first book and will be launching her podcast, LIVE LUMANI, in 2023.
